Prayer for the Canadian Forces Base Wainwright Community
A tragic incident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright has resulted in loss of life and injuries.
As a sign of mourning and respect, flags at all Edmonton Catholic Schools Division sites will be lowered to half-mast. We hold in our prayers all those affected, including the victims, their families and loved ones, military personnel, first responders, and the broader Wainwright community. We join them in prayer and solidarity.
Let us pray:
Almighty God, we pray for the people of the Canadian Forces Wainwright, the victims, the injured, and all those affected by the devastating explosion and fire. We pray for military and civilian emergency services, first responders, and all those who worked tirelessly to rescue the injured and survivors. We pray that the God of Life will comfort the grieving families and friends and give them the strength and courage they need during this very difficult time. May God’s love and compassion comfort and sustain them.
Through the intercession of Mary, the Mother of God, let us pray together: Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Eternal rest grant unto the dead, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
